Domestic Library Education Turns 95 Years

Author: Stolyarov Yu., President of Library Science Department of International Informatization Academy, doctor of pedagogical sciences, professor, chief research officer at the scientific-analytical and scientific-methodical department of RAS’ scientific-production association «Nauka Publishing».

Annotation: The article is about sources and milestones of regular library education development in Russia. Starting point of the librarian training is 1913 — the year, when library courses at Shanyavsky People’s University began their activity. As time goes the courses outgrew into Institute of Library Science and then it was reformed into Moscow Library Institute, which became the flagship of library education in the country.
