It includes popular print publications in all areas of knowledge (with the exception of military subjects, music, library science, bibliography and bibliology) of the major publishing houses of Moscow and St. Petersburg. Widely represented are periodicals: magazines (published in the last 3 years), newspapers and materials of temporary value (published in the last 3 months).
Without exception, all the publications which are available from The Central Auxiliary Collection (as a backup collection) are available from The Central Collection also.
CAF is structurally divided into two parts (reference and general) and subfunds for the magazines, newspapers, and materials of temporary value.

| Where can I get acquainted with the publications of the collection |
|
The reference part is located in the reading rooms of the department of library services General part is located next to the reading room № 3 (on the second floor of building A) and close to the reading room number 2 (on the third floor of building A). |

|
Any member of the Russian State Library, including visitors with tickets for a single visit. Literature is in the public domain and available without prior reservation. |
