Abstract: 2010 is the anniversary year for the Russian State Library for the Blind. In article the history of formation of this country’s largest special library, its transformations into the information-resource centre equipped with the advanced means of adaptive access for people with problems of reading flat-printed texts to the information on various carriers is shined.
