Libraries of Simbirsk in the second half of XIX — early XX cc.

Abstract: The article concerns establishing and development of libraries in Simbirsk in the 2nd half of the XIX and the beginning of the XX centuries. The examples of different approaches to their typology, features of the first public and national libraries and the role of local intellectual elite in regional cultural traditions forming are showed in the paper.
