Library System of Germany: a typological review

Abstract: The paper considers different library types of Germany based on the proceedings of the seminar training «Librarianship in Germany» (Berlin—Leipzig, 24–31 July, 2011). The author highlights interconnection of typological functions with historical and social development. On the basis of statistical data the article estimates library significance within the bounds of considered type.
