Seventh All-Russian meeting of heads of information services for Culture and Arts

From the 22nd to the 24th September, 2010 in Volgograd, as part of a celebration of the110th anniversary of the Volgograd Regional Universal Scientific Library of M. Gorky, there will be held a VII All-Russian meeting of heads of information services for Culture and Arts 'Library and information technology and resources of Rosinformkultura in the context of the formation of cultural policy'. The working meetings will be attended by experts from the departments of culture from several regions of Russia, provincial and municipal libraries, university professors, heads of theatres, museums, archives , representatives from information centers as well as guests from the U. S., Germany, Denmark and Kazakhstan. It will be the first time that the problem of information support of regional cultural policy is reviewed with the participation of such a broad range of specialists.

The meeting is organized by the RSL jointly with the Volgograd Regional Universal Scientific Library of M. Gorky, with the support of the Ministry of Culture of RF and the Culture Committee of the Volgograd region Administration.

During the meeting particular attention will be paid to the discussion of strategies for the development of information and the cultural environment of the regions and the use of digital information resources in this particular area.

The following topics are up for discussion:

• Library and information management programs of cultural development and preservation of cultural heritage in the regions.
• The bodies of executive power in the context of the development of information and the cultural sector in the region.
• Providing information activities on the basis of libraries.
• Information partnership and collaboration of the culture and arts information services with cultural, scientific and educational institutions.
• Resources of SIC Informkultura in the context of the formation of the cultural policy of the regions.

To date, the basic registration of participants is completed and a tentative program of activities is set up.

Alongside the plenary sessions (including visiting the town of Volzhsky), the program of the meeting includes the work of the section 'The executive power of cultural sector in strategy development of information and cultural environment of the regions', topical meetings, as well as a round table to share experiences and a master class for working with digital resources. It is planned to hear more than 30 reports and statements , to get acquainted with presentations of digital information products, to discuss current issues of Rosinformkultura and make a number of decisions for the future.

The materials of the meeting will be published as a separate digest, but also represented on the website 'Informkultura. Analysis, factual account and bibliography on culture and art'. As part of the meeting there will be a summing-up of a third phase of the contest of digital products for information services for culture and art of Rosinformkultura (2008—2009).
