The main fund — is a universal collection of written and graphic manuscripts in ancient Russian, ancient Greek, Latin, Slavic, West European and Eastern languages. It contains manuscripts of secular and spiritual content, archival collections, personal (family and ancestral) archives, archive materials of various governments, church, private institutions and public organizations. There are funds of Peter I, M.I.Kutuzov, P.A.Rumyantsev-Zadunaiski, G.R.Derzhavin, A.S.Griboyedov,M.Y. Lermontov, F.I.Tyutchev, V.O. Kliuchevski and other prominent figures in Russian history and culture. The unique part of the collection consists of the monuments of Slavic and ancient Russian literary culture.
In addition to the main collection there is a scientific and referential auxiliary fund , which contains reference literature, necessary for work with manuscripts. It is represented by a collection of books and serial editions of
XIX—XXI centuries in Russian and foreign languages on the subjects of history, various historical sciences, literary studies, linguistics, theology, philosophy, bibliology and art. The Scientific auxiliary fund is situated in the Rumyantsev Hall of Pashkov House.
