About 1.5 million units. Among them are:
- poster collection — 400 thousand units;
- collection of prints — about 100 thousand units;
- collection of Russian folk pictures — 30 thousand sheets;
- collection of fine art reproductions- about 85 thousand units;
- collection of open letters — about 400 thousand units;
- collection of pre-revolutionary and Soviet applied graphic art- more than 140 thousand units;
- collection of photographs — about 80 thousand units.

| The assets of the collection |
|
The main fund of the collection of visual art publications consists of domestic and foreign documents in a format of loose-leaf publications, albums, books, optical compact discs. The most significant part is occupied by albums. Their range is extremely wide — from mass reproduced publications to the selected collections. They give an idea of the various kinds of visual materials — prints, photographs, reproductions, posters, postcards, etc.
As a complement to the main collection there is an auxiliary one, which includes monographs, works on fine arts, exhibition catalogues, dictionaries, reference books, encyclopaedias. Оpenly accessible auxiliary collection is placed directly in the reading room.
There is also a specialized collection of reference and bibliography, intended for the reference service of the readers. It contains bibliographic and reference books on art and universal matters.
In addition ,visual art publications which are not included in the Collection, can be found in the Central main collection and also in the collections of: military literature, rare and valuable books and manuscripts. |
