Collection of Oriental Literature

The volume of the collection		Around 850 thousand storage units.

Period of coverage		From the IX century to the present.

The assets of the collection		The main collection includes domestic and the most importantly from a scientific and practical point of view, foreign editions in 224 languages of Asia and Africa. These are books, magazines, newspapers , ongoing publications, certain types of cartographic, musical, art publications and voice recordings (on CD- and DVD-media). In addition to the main collection, an auxiliary one is being created, which includes language dictionaries, monographs and scientific works on Oriental studies, handbooks and general encyclopaedias in Russian and other European languages. The auxiliary collection is distributed between seven reading rooms and is open for public use.
